The Intersate 35 (I-35) is a highway which requires maintenance in moisture content as per the tremndous changes in weather. When the content of moisture in clay increases, the clay swells causing contraction and expansion. The temperature varies from (-18)C to 43C. Due to this effect, the long term solution was in search.
To control the moisture level on grounds of lime-stabilised subgrade the geomembrane were installed, both covered with crushed stone. The geomembrane was selected due to the advantages such as puncture resistance, cost savings, strength properties, soil stabilization, lighter weight, portability and water impermeability. A geomembrane is synthetic membrane liner with low permeability combined with geotechnical engineering material to control gas or fluid of a system. In this there are two types of geomembrane which are linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) and high-density polyethylene (HDPE).
