Smart Garments is defined as the wear which is resistant to 100 wash cycles. This is possibe through the new technology conductive ink from DuPont Microcircuit materials. Flexible clothing for athletes is a good example for this technology. Continuous information about the health of athletes could be provided through stretchable conductor ink. Health information includes stress level, heart and breathing rates and calories burned.
The technology is a combination of DuPont PE772 stretchable dielectric encapsulation ink and DuPont PE872 stretchable conductor ink. The elasticity of the cloth remains and the cloth turns wash resistant. This technology is also available with PE510 – copper UV curing ink. In the past such fabrics have existed which have degraded after 50 wash cycles. Thus, the consistent functioning of circuits remains important.
